Area guide to Bromley
Bromley, the largest town in South East London, is a desirable green and leafy suburb. Served by four stations – the main two being Bromley South and Bromley North Stations – the area is considered a desirable commuter town due to its convenient transport links with London. Rail services from Bromley South to London Victoria take approximately 16 minutes, and Bromley North offers a five-minute shuttle train to Grove Park, from which there are onward connections direct to Charing Cross and London Bridge.
While Bromley may be regarded as a commuter town due to the accessibility of London, the area also has many fine parks on offer, including Sundridge Park, Norman Park and Bromley Common. Alongside the abundance of open spaces, the area also boasts excellent educational facilities. Bromley has numerous schools, with Bickley Primary School, Valley Primary School and Raglan Primary School being the most prominent in the area.
For shopping, there is a pedestrianised High Street and The Glades shopping centre, which boast an array of both local and high-end brand stores. The area has the perfect mix of restaurants and bars. Ferraris is one of Bromley’s favourite Italian restaurants and offers exceptional food and service, while Aqua, a Mediterranean Bar & Grill, is the place to go for carefully sourced and beautifully cooked meat, game and fish.
Bromley has an interesting combination of architecture, from Victorian and Edwardian properties in Bromley North to 1930’s semi-detached and detached houses and the Palace Estate in Bromley South. The area has seen high demand for investment opportunities, which has resulted in a surge of new and recently built apartments. Nevertheless, Bromley remains popular with those who have lived there for many years, and residents tend to stay in the area regardless of whether they’re upsizing or downsizing.
